LEED
The concept of ‘green’ in the construction industry is a mainstream tangible movement that represents the future of construction throughout the US and the developed world. More than ever before, attention is focused on the utilization of natural resources and the environmental impacts of building and community development.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
From the initial design and documentation of a project to its use as an educational tool for the general public upon it’s completion, the LEED® system remains unparalleled in its requirements for detail, supporting documentation and third party evaluation. In conjunction with national agencies like the EPA, ASHRAE Standards and Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC), this rating system helps builders differentiate their homes as some of the best in their markets using recognized national brands.
Miller Homes Inc strives to build homes following the model of the LEEDs system in order to create awareness in both the general public and within associated local government departments of the importance of environmentally conscious building materials and practices We also want to promote the use of green building materials and processes in the residential and commercial marketplace. Our goal is to not just to build one LEEDs house, but many and our target market is not just someone interested in building a green house today, but maybe wants to incorporate green concepts into his or her house tomorrow.
